The hike covers 170 kilometers and with a maximum altitude of 2536 meters it provides spectacular scenery for anyone trekking it. The trail is a circuit which usually takes about 11 days to complete. There are several places along the way where you can set up camp, but if you however feel like you do not want to camp out every night there are also several refuges, B&Bs and hostels along the trail. 2. Pacific Crest Trail, USAThe Pacific Crest Trail is a hiking trail following the west coast of the USA. Starting in southern California at the Mexican border it runs through California, Oregon and Washington all the way to the Canadian border, a total stretch of 4260 kilometers. Due to the extreme length of the trail most hikers choose to only hike a few kilometers at a time. 3. The Overland Track, AustraliaLocated in Tasmania, Australia the overland track stretches 65 kilometers through Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. The trail takes six days to walk and offers amazing scenery as you walk past a huge variety of nature types , such as deep valleys, eucalyptus forest, alpine meadows and even rainforests. 4. Kungsleden, SwedenAlso known as "The King's Trail", this hike of approximately 440 kilometers will show some of Sweden's most amazing scenery. The trail runs through four national parks and a nature reserve. If you are not planning on hiking the full trip and want to camp out, stick to the northernmost 100 kilometers. If you however want to be able to sleep in a cabin most of them are situated in the southern part of the trail. 5. The Inca TrailThe Inca trail is one of the most popular hikes in the world, and for good reason. The 43 kilometer long hike combines stunning mountain scenery with Inca ruins and paving stones. The hike takes about 4 days to complete and finishes at the mighty ruin of Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas".
